New high-tech Te Puia experience opens

New Zealand’s leading cultural attraction, Te Puia is nearing completion of a NZ$17.5m self funded redevelopment programme which promises to elevate the visitors experience of this historically and culturally significant site.

The first phase of the new Te Puia will open ahead of schedule to the public on Friday 01 December and provide visitors with an interactive tourism experience in Te Whare Tapere (house of multi disciplines) where leading edge tourism technologies from highly acclaimed, Wellington based company 3D Creative are used to exceptional effect.

Te Puia General Manager Sales & Marketing, Waimaria Erueti says that “Te Puia is eager to share with as many people as possible this exciting new interactive experience and is offering an introductory discount as a way of encouraging local people to take a new look at Te Puia and to experience the stories of their region in an educational and exciting new way.” This includes a 3D sensory table depicting the Te Whakarewarewa Valley and innovative touch screen technologies.

Waimaria says that educating visitors is central to the Te Puia experience and Te Whare Tapere promises to deliver a high-tech learning experience that will also add another dimension to the guiding experience and enhance the visitors understanding and appreciation of Te Puia.
