3km personally guided night trail under the stars, through Te Puia’s geothermal valley. (approx. 90 minute duration).

Walking shoes and a medium level of fitness needed. Ponchos and umbrellas provided if there are showers, however this experience will be subject to the weather.

Recommended Ages: 8 years and older (must be able to do a late night walk)


Departs from Te Puia Carpark 2 opposite the Hemo Road roundabout.

Rotorua resident rates available, must be purchased onsite or over the phone with proof of address supplied on arrival.

Te Puia, is home to the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere, Pōhutu Geyser, as well as the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute – training the next generation of artists from around the country.

Join one of our guided experiences at 10.30am and 1.30pm, highlighting our geothermal valley, Māori culture and Kiwi Conservation Centre with six Kiwi in our state of the art enclosure.

Visit our stunning restaurant Pātaka Kai serving fresh coffee and lunch each day of operation as well as Sunday brunch.

Geyser By Night – Te Puia Light Trails reveals for the first time our geothermal valley under night skies, providing a multi-sensory experience in an interactive journey guided by light.

Te Puia is open Weds to Sun from 10am to 4pm and from 7pm for Geyser By Night tours.
