Te Puia will re-open under Delta Level 2 from Wednesday, September 9th, 2021.

We will be operating Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Geyser By Night will operate on the same days from 7pm to 9pm. Please check our opening hours for the latest information.

Across the site, we’ve introduced several safety measures to ensure best practice hygiene standards are maintained to protect manuhiri (guests) and our staff.

  • Contact tracing using COVID-19 app and contact register.
  • Cashless payment only.
  • Spacing stickers adhered to floors to ensure social distancing.
  • Sanitiser stations installed.
  • Reception area cleaned more frequently throughout day.
  • Smaller group sizes on guided experience.
  • Ensure social distancing whilst on guided experience.
  • Ensure manuhiri (guests) are seated on their bubbles whilst on board the Tuatara Waka (People Moving Vehicle)
  • Tuatara Waka cleaned in-between use throughout day.
  • Sanitiser stations installed.
  • Sanitiser available on arrival.
  • Contact tracing using COVID-19 app and contact register.
  • Table spacing.
  • Water station has been removed and water will be provided at tables on request.
  • Food will be ordered as requested with cutlery and plates delivered with food.
  • Cashless payment only.
  • Cleaning / sanitising of tables and menus between guests will be increased.
  • Clearly marked barriers installed to maintain social distancing between manuhiri (guests) and staff.
  • Staff and students will be wearing masks as they share narrative with manuhiri.
  • Sanitiser provided throughout the Institute.

 

  • Kiwi Conservation narrative will be delivered outside the centre (under cover).
  • Kiwi Conservation staff will be wearing masks.
  • Manuhiri will be escorted through the indoor nocturnal viewing area in smaller group sizes.
  • Sanitiser provided throughout the Kiwi Conservation Centre

Yes, we will be requiring everyone who visits us to wear a mask whilst we operate at Alert Level 2. Consuming food or drink at Pātaka Kai will be the only exceptions to this rule.

Pātaka Kai Restaurant is open under Covid-19 Alert Level 2. Open Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 3pm and Sunday Brunch from 9am to 2pm. Keep up to date with the latest on our open hours page.
