Description
Pākē (rain cape) are practical everyday garments made by attaching hundreds of leaf strips (harekeke - NZ flax) to a woven foundation. The harakeke channelled off the rain. This Pākē has been fashioned with strands of muka fibre within the flax. The maro is a frontal apron tied around the waist and is a traditional garment that is worn by both men and woman.
