Join us for an exclusive Hāngī overlooking the powerful Pōhutu Geyser!

Enjoy your self-selected and freshly cooked Hāngī meal with a personalized guided tour to explore the wonders within Te Puia.

Discover more about the fascinating Māori culture in New Zealand on a 3-hour guided tour at Te Puia in Rotorua. On this popular Steambox Experience, choose your own Hāngī steamed lunch and enjoy it overlooking a cobalt blue lake and one of the most famous Rotorua geysers. This is a fantastic way to explore the Te Whakarewarewa geothermal valley in Rotorua, but with a twist.

Te Puia is a fascinating geothermal wonderland in Rotorua that combines extraordinary natural attractions with sharing New Zealand’s rich cultural narrative. On the 3 hour Steambox experience, the highlight of the tour is selecting your very own Hāngī steamed lunch, which is then cooked in a natural steam vent which creates a deliciously unique flavour.

The Steambox tour grants you an exclusive dining experience, in our geyser marquee, with the best view in the valley of  Pōhutu Geyser, the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere. This famous Rotorua geyser erupts approximately 20 times a day, with the water and steam often reaching heights of 30 metres. Beneath Pōhutu lays the ‘Blueys’. This affectionately named cobalt blue lake is a result of silica produced from the Pōhutu Geyser, which then runs from the geyser terrace to the lake.

Your Steambox tour also includes access to the Kiwi Conservation Centre, an exclusive guided tour through the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute and many other natural sights and wonders here within Te Puia.

The minimum duration of Steambox is 3 hours.
