A unique dining experience to remember

Te Puia’s cultural food and beverage experience, Pātaka Kai Restaurant, Bar and Cafe, makes for a truly unforgettable feast. Enjoy spectacular geothermal views while enjoying a range of delicious Kiwi flavours with free access to our cafe and restaurant.

The menus are are smartly sophisticated – infusing Māori flavours, with an array of global cuisines and cooking styles.

From our popular corn & watercress soup, served alongside fresh homemade rewena bread to our large range of kai moana (seafood) with a crisp salad buffet, your meal will begin with a gourmet sampler of the mains to come. Don’t forget to try our steambox station, where you can try freshly made pork and prawn dumplings and crispy spring rolls.

Our main buffet options are not to be missed. From hot carvery consisting of mustard glazed ham and mint and garlic roasted lamb- cut fresh by one of our leading chefs, butter chicken, our staff favourite- stir fried beef with vegetables and sticky glazed ribs!

A Pātaka Kai buffet wouldn’t be complete without an all you can eat dessert station. Alongside chocolate cream puffs, kiwi triffle and fresh fruit, NZ Pavalova and fresh cream, we have our local favourite, burnt brown sugar steamed pudding. Our steamed puddings are made onsite and cooked in a natural steam vent down in the geothermal valley. This unique cooking style offers a flavour that can not be replicated anywhere else. Serve your steamed pudding with hot vanila bean custard and cream to end your dining experience.
