Te Puia has a long-established Health & Safety process which includes daily visual checks and record keeping of all areas accessible by the public. All-access to and experiences at Te Puia are fully guided by our trained staff.
Discover one of New Zealand’s most magnificent geothermal wonderlands – featuring dramatic geysers, bubbling mud and beautiful native bush.. after hours!
Until now, the magic hidden within Te Puia has remained a secret that only Mother Nature has truly been exposed to. For the first time, the geothermal valley is revealed under night skies, providing a multi-sensory experience that can not be replicated anywhere else in the world.
Meet with your guide in the Southern Carpark of Te Puia to be escorted through a rarely accessed entry into the valley. See recently birthed mudpools and hear the stories of Māori myths, passed down for generations.
Guided by torch, you will see carvings throughout the valley and if you’re lucky, hear the call of our Native Kiwi in their outdoor enclosure.
A traditional Māori dessert will be shared with you infront of Ngāraratuatara, an impressive, boiling cooking pool- before you head off towards the final feature of your evening.
The beauty and power of Pōhutu, the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere, will connect your wairua (spirit) with the beauty of papatūānuku (Mother Earth).
